There’s no Shocker, no Doctor https://rio66-app.com/ Octopus (until the end credits scene), no Rhino, and no Kingpin. And Black Cat uses Doctor Strange magic to teleport out of the game as soon as she enters it. The first 75% of the game is dedicated to a mostly boring villain plot while the actual interesting plot builds in the background, occupying the last 25%. Venom isn’t around long enough either, especially for the impact they act like he had on the city, but it just about made all the waiting worth it. Especially with the added personal connection between Spider-Man and Venom, really highlighting Venom as the dark mirror of Peter. Hopes were high when the teasers at the end of both Spider-Man and Miles Morales teased the arrival of Venom.
Or perhaps you haven’t gone web-slinging through New York City and now that you have a PS5, you’re ready to pull down the Spidey mask and help protect New York City? No matter where you are in your Spider journey, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know to enjoy this new video game adventure. Miles still gets his time in the spotlight, however, and has some fantastic moments towards the end of the main campaign, even if some of the more interesting explorations of his Puerto Rican/African American culture are reserved for side missions. Obviously, what you take away from the story and its diverse cast of characters will be unique to you. On the surface, it’s another thrilling superhero story packed full of surprises, cameos, and Easter eggs – but there are deeper meanings to be found here, too.
Between Kraven’s wily viciousness and the sheer overwhelming might of Lizard and Venom, there’s a level of brutality and strength from Spider-Man’s nemeses that you didn’t see in the previous games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s map is far more expansive than its predecessor. In fact, it’s about twice as large, with new areas of New York City added in the sequel, including Brooklyn, Queens, and the East River.

They allow to get prettier reflections and shadows, as well as more realistic looking lighting (the game supports Nvidia DLSS Ray Reconstruction technology). This port also supports ultrawide screens and playing on three monitors. A Spider-Man 2 trailer with an extended gameplay demonstration was revealed during the latest PlayStation Showcase. The 10-minute video highlighted how players will switch between Peter and Miles in the game, and their new combat abilities, including a fiendish Symbiote suit that grants Peter some aggressive new powers. That being said, I can’t help but have hoped for a few more flashes of Gotham City to make their way into New York.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the open-world sequel to the web-slinger’s first game by Insomniac Games, is coming to PC late in January 2025. The game, which released on PS5 in 2023, follows Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they fight classic Spider-Man rouges like Kraven the Hunter and Venom. While the game left some stories open for more down the road, Insomniac Games has addressed whether Spider-Man 2 will get any story DLC.

This isn’t a world that beckons exploration or discovery, necessarily, but it is a step in the right direction toward creating greater immersion and mercifully less time spent looking at the map screen. In a story ultimately all about the emotional stakes and the cast’s relationships with each other, the actual personalities are remarkably flat. Almost everyone fills essentially the same role (Incredibly Nice Genius) and the addition of Miles’ supporting cast means there’s twice as many of them chattering at you. PC Gamer’s got your back
The fundamental difference is that this time both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are playable. The playable character changes during certain plot points, for example, if one of them isn’t able to arrive somewhere in time or when they need to split up. The only villains we get are Kraven, Venom, Sandman, The Lizard, and Mysterio (kind of). They set up The Chameleon and Carnage but they don’t actually do anything. And that’s not even mentioning side characters like Silver Sable who easily could’ve returned in some capacity.
Primarily a Peter Parker story, Spider-Man 2 explores his relationship with MJ and the reintroduction of childhood best friend Harry Osborne into his life. It’s always compelling to watch him contend with which pieces of the past to leave behind and what future self he wishes to be. In some of the missions where you control normal, everyday Peter, I couldn’t help but feel the Uncharted influence more than ever, both in the techniques it uses to tell his story and the show-stopping action sequences when he slips into the suit.
Each game in the series has a main villain that is set up early in the game, and persists to the end. However, the plot is structured in a way that gives focus to other villains and storylines at the same time. Like Batman having to save Mr. Freeze from The Penguin so he can make a cure for Joker. Both Peter Parker and Miles Morales have changed since their previous games, which means how they play has also evolved. Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned web-head to their slick moves, there’s plenty to get stuck into. The new parry mechanic is essential to dealing with some of the undodgeable strikes particular enemies use.
The book leads directly into the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man, first introducing Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, as he returns to New York, only this time he’s built himself a pretty sturdy reputation as an altruistic entrepreneur and philanthropist. Now you can build up height and speed with web-swinging before quickly switching to Web Wings to glide in areas like Queens, where there are few tall buildings. With the new interactive elements like super slingshots and wind tunnels that act as jet streams, Spider-Man has never been faster in the air. Traversing New York City feels more exhilarating in the sequel, thanks to introducing the new web wings that make getting around easier and more fun. You can’t help feeling that traversal is faster in the sequel, too, partially due to the web wings.
The responsive vibrations of the DualSense™ wireless controller bring Peter Parker’s symbiote abilities and Miles Morales’ bio-electric skills to your fingertips. Peter starts his first day as a physics teacher at Brooklyn Visions Academy with Miles among his students, but they are interrupted by a rampaging Sandman, requiring both the Spider-Men to subdue him. Fired for abandoning the class, Peter returns to his Aunt May’s home in Queens–which he has moved into following her death[b]–to meet with Mary Jane. They are surprised by Harry, who has miraculously recovered from his terminal illness.
